Windows - Installing exe shows MSI dialog Box
Monday, 13 October 2008 15:02

Issue

When trying to install an .exe which contained an msi, you are just prompted with the MSI help dialog box.

Resolution

  1. Goto 'Start / Run' and type CMD
  2. Once in the CLI type 'echo %temp%' to find your default temp folders.
  3. Remove as much as you can from your temp folder.
  4. Try to run the .exe again
  5. Check in the temp folder for the extracted MSI from the .exe you just run, and then run this MSI.

This should now install correctly.
